Colorado State University has been awarded a USDA-CSREES National Facilitation project to gauge public knowledge, values, attitudes, perceptions and preferences related to potential water reallocation strategies in Colorado and the West. CSU plans to survey the public in early 2008. Prior to the survey, CSU plans to hold a household focus group and a technical focus group to obtain thoughts and professional opinion regarding the following topics (along with other possible topics that may come up):
1. Which water issues facing Colorado and the West today should be receiving the most attention from policy-makers.
2. Which water-sharing alternatives (or other sources of water) are the most promising for meeting future water needs.
3. What knowledge gaps you perceive the general public to have regarding water use and issues.
